What's Your Story?

Everyone has a story. Whether you are a character in a novel or a character in your family history, everyone has a story to tell. I absolutely love stories! It's fun to learn about new cultures and discover what it is that makes those around us tick. Stories are part of the way we become familiar with others. Once we learn more about the person, we begin to love them and welcome them into our own personal stories.

Carol's Country Gifts also has a story. Let me share it with you so you can learn a little bit more about me.

For years, I have been making gift baskets for friends and family. One day in 1995, my husband came home with an article about gift basket companies. He suggested that I start a company. After all, he reasoned, “You’re already making baskets. Why not make a business out of it?” I just kind of laughed at him and thought, “Ya right.” But that thought always stayed in the back of my mind. I thought, “What if...” What if my husband had a point? What if I started a gift basket company? But that was about as far as it got.

It wasn’t until my daughter’s friends were getting married that the idea of a gift basket company was cemented in my mind. As my daughter was going to bridal showers, I would make a basket as a gift for her to take. The baskets were a hit! People were constantly asking where the gift came from and where they could purchase one just like it. That was the turning point for me and I started Carol’s Country Gifts. That was 1996. Almost 11 years now and I still feel the excitement and energy as I create a gift basket.

What's your story? I invite you to share your story with me.
